Why all the talk about God?
I write about what happened to me. That includes being transformed from an egotistical, arrogant, impulsive guy who needed approval of others to a more peaceful, satisfied guy who knows and walks with the Lord. I know I was changed by God and given a second chance. As the healed blind man says in John 9: 25, “One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see”. The same is true of me, and I find I need to share that with others who can experience the same joy. I may not have all the answers, but I know I was changed by my accepting Christ into my life and now am not searching to fill my voids with other things – like pornography, drugs, work, etc.
Why write about prison?
I write about prison because everyone I talk to wants to know more about what it is like on the inside – without going there! Much like viewing an accident, people have a morbid curiosity about things like that and the media does not always do it justice. I tell what happened to me and what I witnessed, not pulling any punches. Sometimes it seems a a little far fetched, but believe me, you cannot make up this stuff. It actually happened
Are you available as an outside speaker?
I have been asked to participate in various outside activities revolving around breaking addictions, especially pornography, and would be very happy to talk with men regarding this issue.
Are you embarrassed by what you did?
Absolutely. As I told someone when I got out, I do not like the guy who did those things either. I am a changed person, and that gentleman and others have watched my walk as a recovering addict and note my behaviors all the time. I remain dedicated to being transparent and helping those who have similar issues to those I had before.
I must say I also am working with others who have come out of prison and will continue that work as well.
